Oris Divers’ 65 Deauville

This is the watch I bought when I finished my internship and received my teaching license. Nowadays, I find it rather strange that as a history teacher, I chose a watch inspired by 1960s timepieces rather than a genuine vintage watch. However, I remember thinking at the time that a dive bezel might be useful while teaching lessons (the things we watch collectors tell ourselves), and the retro design, along with the fact that the bezel included markings all along its circumference, contributed to this choice. The outline of the numerals is truly something special and faithful to the original.
This specific configuration charmed me particularly and perfectly matched my teaching attire. The distinctive dial – dubbed Deauville after the luxurious Normandy commune of the French Riviera – goes great with jeans, the black bezel with a black shirt (what other color could it be?), and the beige canvas strap is surprisingly one of the most impressive things about this watch. Its color pairs perfectly with the shoes I usually wear (and practically with everything, really), and it feels amazing on the wrist. Honestly, I love this strap so much that I even paired it with my Explorer for a while.
