Itzo Zisso’s Tissot
This was the last watch of my wife’s maternal grandfather, Yitzhak ‘Itzu’ Zissu. A very Romanian watch, especially when worn on its original two-tone Jubilee-style bracelet. It’s actually pretty cool otherwise, and perhaps surprisingly, it’s one of the watches I’m most connected to, and I’d say I’m also one of the people with the deepest connection to this watch.
I remember Itzu wearing this watch in his final years, and I might have even replaced its battery for him once. I remember cleaning this watch and resizing the bracelet to fit me when it came into my possession. I remember discovering that I enjoyed wearing it once I paired it with various leather straps. And I remember that circumstances led to me taking my first steps in the watch industry with this very watch accompanying me, thus ensuring it will forever have a special place in my life as well.
